Thailand Mission Trip 2025
Under the guidance of His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion, the LA Diocese Mission DOME hosted its first mission trip to Thailand from July 6th–16th. We served the congregation of Bangkok and Sangklaburi under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Daniel of Sydney, Australia. Leading the mission was Father Paul Baky. The trip focused on spiritual mission work in our church, the orphanage, and the nearby villages.
My mission trip to Thailand was truly one of the best experiences of my life. As a Coptic Orthodox Christian, I can honestly say it was the most profound and edifying work I have ever been blessed to take part in. Spiritually, it was transformative and deeply fulfilling.
The children at the orphanage touched my heart in a way I will never forget. They were wonderful…disciplined, spiritual, kind, generous, and incredibly well-behaved. Their joy and love radiated Christ in every interaction. The nature of the mission itself was humbling and uplifting, reminding me of the beauty of service and the simplicity of God’s love.
Not only was the mission meaningful, but it was also full of joy and fellowship. The group I traveled with was truly the best. Everyone was incredibly supportive, fun, and united in spirit. Together, we poured our hearts into the work, and I am so grateful for the bonds we built.
One of the most memorable moments was visiting a school near the border of Myanmar. Despite the language barrier, the students were so attentive and receptive to us, and we felt their love and openness in return. It was in those moments that the truth of “love has no language” became so clear.
This trip has left a lasting mark on my heart, and I am forever grateful to have been part of it. - Natalie Tadros
Going into this mission trip, I honestly didn’t know what to expect since it was my first one. I thought I was coming to teach people about our faith, but instead, I found myself being taught how to be disciplined, how to trust God no matter the circumstances, and how to love unconditionally. This mission trip was such a meaningful experience for me. The moments we shared whether it was serving together, laughing with the children, or reflecting as a group made this journey unforgettable. What started with uncertainty ended with so much gratitude and inspiration, and I’ll carry that with me for a long time. - Maria Attia
My mission trip to Thailand was a powerful reminder of what it truly means to serve. From working alongside the medical team, providing care in a very underserved area, to spending time with a small family community on an island. The time I also spent with the children at the Coptic orphanage was profoundly moving. Their joy, strength, and openness to give us a glimpse of their daily life truly resonated with me, and it will be a time I’ll never forget. As we played, laughed, and shared spiritual moments together, I saw God’s love reflected in them. It was in the simplest acts like holding a hand, offering a smile, or listening to them with compassion that I saw God actively working. I also experienced so many “firsts” like new foods, languages, cultures, and most of all, new perspectives. This trip was a reminder of how God uses people to teach, shape, and grow us. His grace was so evident throughout the trip, giving us the strength to step out of our comfort zones and granting us the humility to learn from one another and His Word. I formed lasting friendships with people whose hearts are for Jesus and the service. We experienced many unforgettable moments together. I believe that God taught us to lean on Him, to learn from each other, and to serve not just out of duty, but out of love on this trip. I am forever grateful for the time spent serving in Thailand. - Katherine Kamel
